Education
Bremen offers voluntary Kindergarten (age 3 to 6) in conjunction with primary (age 6 to 10) and secondary (age 10 to 16) education. Secondary and higher education is free; kindergarten is available to all, but there is a fee. Bremen offers bilingual classes in many of its schools. Please note that educational responsibilities lie with the federal states so these policies may vary from state to state.
International School of Bremen (ISB)
The International School of Bremen (ISB) is a private, co-educational, college-preparatory, English-speaking school. It covers Kindergarten to secondary education. Currently about 200 students from 35 countries attend. The ISB was established in 1998 to serve students in the international community of Bremen.

Jacobs University Bremen (JUB)
Jacobs University in Bremen-Grohn is an internationally oriented university. There are over 1,000 students representing almost 100 nations. The faculty includes over 130 professors plus more than 200 research scientists. Founded in 1999 it is a private and independent university for the advancement of education and research. Its academic programs and cultural environment prepare graduates for international leadership and global citizenship.

The University of Applied Sciences Bremen
University of Applied Sciences enjoys a long tradition that goes back to 1799. Approximately 8,000 students are enrolled in over 60 degree programs in areas such as engineering, natural sciences, economics and social sciences. About two-thirds are required to complete study or internships abroad and the university offers Bachelor and Master degrees. The University enjoys the benefits of cooperative agreements with 270 partners worldwide.

University of the Arts Bremen
The University of the Arts Bremen with 820 students is an excellent environment for creative young people to develop their artistic talents and prepare for a career in the arts.
