Business succession
Successful transfer of one's own company to a successor needs to be planned over the long term. A change of management within a company is a normal part of the corporate life cycle. Despite this, of the 70,000 small and medium-sized enterprises each year that undergo transfer to a successor, an estimated 6,000 are closed down because no suitable is found. Early preparation for the change of leadership is therefore essential if the company is to be kept securely positioned and successful in the market. In practice, actually implementing a business succession is often a difficult task because there is no ready-made solution. Which particular solution is ideal for the specific case depends on many very different criteria.
